Question about showing gaited horses?
I was looking at horses that I could try all kinds of stuff with, western pleasure, competitive trail, halter,Team Penning. I came across some tennessee walkers and kentucky mtn saddle horses. Can you show them in like 4h and stuff? I don’t think they have classes specifically for gaited horses here. Also, are gaited horses fun? I’ve never ridden one but everyone I know that has owned/ridden them loves them.

I show my Tennessee Walker in 4-H, usually in saddleseat. This is where gaited horses will do the best in 4-H, because they will be judged against other gaited horses, instead of quarter horses. You technically could enter them in any class, but hunt usually isn’t good because you cna’t post on a gaited horse. You are not required to post in saddleseat, even though it’s an english class.
I have a lot of fun with my walker! we show, but we’ve also gone trail riding, done some speed, and a little bit of jumping! They’re very versatile, plus the gait is just to die for!
